Saturdays & Tuesdays during term time

Brass Group


This group is made up of brass players and play pieces at approximately grade 3 upwards

Percussion Ensemble

This group works on tuned and untuned percussion instruments coming together to play as an ensemble.  Most, if not all, players will have had previous musical experience

Wind Band


Most players are expected to play to a standard of at least grade IV as a minimum

From time to time, the group is requested to represent the borough council at high profile ceremonies and events, as well as playing out in public

 

Youth Choir

The choir is available to all membership of SYM that play in other groups as well as those who simply just want to sing.

 

Singing is considered a good discipline for young musicians as it assists with their aural development and awareness.

Beginner Wind Band

This band take players who have just started playing and may or may not be able to read music notation. This group is ideal for those young players who have experienced IN2MUSIC Whole Class Ensemble Tuition at their primary school

Clarinet Choir

In this group, players are selected to come together and will have had musical experience and play in on of the well-established groups within SYM

Ukulele Band

This band take players who have just started playing and may or may not be able to read music notation.

In this group, players are selected to come together and will have had musical experience and play in on of the well-established groups within SYM.

Junior String Ensemble

The Junior String Ensemble is available for strings players (violin; viola; cello; double bass) of approximately grade I to grade III.  This group is ideal for those young players who have experienced IN2MUSIC Whole Class Ensemble Tuition at their primary school

Intermediate String Ensemble

The Intermediate String Ensemble is available for strings players (violin; viola; cello; double bass) of approximately grade III upwards

 

 

Rock Pod

Rock Pod is a modern rock/pop band system that allows children and young people to start from scratch learning  the various instruments within a band scenario.

Rock School

Rock School is a well-established club that facilitates young people to form their own rock/pop band, make covers and perform at gigs throughout the year.  You are required to be able to play an instrument or sing before progression th Rock School.  Many students will attend Rock Pod before joining.
